All of us can share in celebrating the exciting news that Statesville has been selected as a finalist for the 2009 All-America
City awards. In June, we will send representatives from The Boys & Girls Club of the Piedmont,
Fifth Street Ministries and Mi Familia Institute
along with other community residents to the finals in Tampa, Florida where they will spread the news to dozens of other communities
from around the country about the positive change they (and many others) make every day in our City. We want to share examples
of people that make a difference in Statesville and focus on improving the quality of life for all of us.
We
all have a unique story about why we call Statesville "home", but there is one theme that rings consistent among
the many reasons we choose to live here. We have made Statesville our home because the people we live and work with each day
make it a special place.
Is there an individual at work,
school or church that always makes time to offer a kind word? Is there a business owner or shopkeeper that always takes care
of you? is there a parent, relative, neighbor or friend that has been an inspiration to you? We want to give you the opportunity
to honor those that help make our hometown a true All-America City.
Make a gift of as little as
$25.00 to Statesville All-America City and recognize someone who has made a difference in your life as an All-America Citizen. Your gift will enable someone to make this trip who otherwise would not have the means to
participate. We'll send your honoree a recognition certificate along with an acknowledgment of your gift. A complete list
of All-America Citizens will be published in the Statesville Record & Landmark on June 15, 2009 and on this web site the
following day.
Don't delay! The deadline is June 1, 2009.
